ⓘ Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Q: How difficult is Lobuche Peak compared to Island Peak?
A: Lobuche Peak is slightly more technical due to steeper slopes and crevasses. It's best for trekkers who’ve previously done high-altitude hikes and are ready for a mountaineering challenge.
Q: Do I need prior mountaineering experience?
A: Not necessarily. Previous trekking at altitude is essential. Our guide will teach you how to use crampons, ice axes, and ropes during pre-summit training.
Q: What’s included in the gear rental?
A: You can rent essential trekking gear in Kathmandu, including sleeping bags, down jackets, and hiking boots. Rental typically costs around USD $1–$3 per item per day, depending on the quality and type. Technical climbing gear such as crampons, harnesses, helmets, and ice axes can also be rented separately, or as a full set for USD $120–150 for the entire expedition. Prices may vary slightly by shop.
Q: Is solo booking possible?
A: This tour requires a minimum of 2 people for safety and logistical reasons. Solo climbers can join on request if we can match you with another group (subject to availability).
Q: What if I feel unwell during the trek?
A: Your guide will assess your condition and take appropriate action — from adjusting the pace to arranging descent or emergency evacuation. Your safety is always the top priority.
