Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Q: Is this trek suitable for beginners?
A: This is a challenging trek due to high altitude and multiple days of hiking. While no technical climbing is required, a good level of fitness and prior hiking experience is recommended.

Q: What is the highest point reached on this trek?
A: The trek reaches Gokyo Ri at 5,357m, which offers panoramic views of Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, and Cho Oyu.

Q: How is this trek different from the classic Everest Base Camp trek?
A: This route is less crowded and focuses on the stunning Gokyo Lakes region, offering unique alpine scenery, a more peaceful experience, and incredible views from Gokyo Ri instead of Everest Base Camp.

Q: Will I experience altitude sickness?
A: The risk increases above 3,000m. This itinerary includes acclimatization days, and your guide is trained to spot symptoms. Emergency oxygen is carried as a precaution.

Q: Are flights to Lukla reliable?
A: Weather conditions can delay flights. During peak seasons, flights are often rerouted via Manthali Airport. We recommend buffer days after your trek before any international flight.

Q: Do I need to carry all my belongings while trekking?
A: No. A porter is provided for every two trekkers (max combined load: 25 kg). You’ll only carry a daypack with water, snacks, and essentials.

Q: Is Wi-Fi or mobile signal available during the trek?
A: Some teahouses offer paid Wi-Fi, but connection can be slow or unreliable. Ncell or NTC SIM cards may work in lower villages.

Q: Can I do this trek solo?
A: This is a private tour, bookable for a minimum of two people. We currently do not offer group-matching for solo trekkers.
